Car loan customers that are concerned about the lack of space in a smart fortwo may be surprised to learn that the minute vehicles can in fact hold 13 people.
Celebrating smart's tenth anniversary, owners of the mini Mercedes cars were invited to attend the smart Destination Brooklands event held at Mercedes-Benz World and "take up the smart-packing challenge".
There were 1,200 "smarts" taking part in the task but the winners were the 'smart car-tortionists', who are in fact bond bending specialists.
Talking about the amazing feat of getting 13 people into a car that measures just 2.7 metres long by 1.6 metres wide, bendy contortionist Iona Luvsandorj, said: "The interior of the smart is tardis-like and I think we exceeded the crowd’s expectations of how many people we could fit inside it."
Smart Electric Drive cars will be used by the police from next month as part of a new trial to improve the force's mobility and green credentials as the mini motors give out zero-emissions.
