Lancia announce Mini rival
31/03/2008

BMW's Mini looks set to be given a further run for its money as Lancia announced details of its latest project, it is reported.

The Italian luxury car manufacturer has revealed plans to develop a vehicle which will give car finance customers looking for a new small car more to choose from, Auto Express reports.

Named the Ypsilon, it is reported that the car will target the Mini's market, along with other new entries which are proving popular with car loans customers such as Fiat's 500 and the new Alfa Romeo MiTo.

The magazine adds that a 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol model is expected, as well as 1.3 and 1.9-litre diesel versions. It is also reported that the car will feature LED lights, a distinctive chrome trim and two-tone paintwork.

Although it is stated that car loans customers can expect a spacious interior, with folding rear seats and plenty of boot space, the Ypsilon will continue the manufacturer's reputation as a luxury brand.

It is expected that the Ypsilon will make its motor show debut next year.
