Car loans customers told: "Plug-in hybrids make sense"
28/04/2008

With car loans customers having an increasing focus on the environment, a new hybrid model from Skoda has been put to the test.

Motors-Merseyside.co.uk reports that drivers, such as those with an AnyCredit car loan, could soon double their fuel efficiency with the growing performance levels offered by hybrid technology and considers the manufacturer's petrol-electric Fabia.

It is reports the new car can offer drivers 64mpg - in comparison to 39mpg on the standard petrol vehicle - and researchers at Mira, the Warwickshire-based firm behind the new technology, will be cheap and easy to recharge.

"You can still obtain electricity from your domestic provider far cheaper and greener than you can produce it via an automotive combustion engine so plug-in hybrids make sense," he told the site.

He adds that the inclusion of a removable battery pack that can be charged anywhere in the home means that drivers no longer have to keep their car parked next to a special charging point.

According to Energy Saving Trust chief executive Philip Sellwood, any advances that can be made to encourage people to consider a hybrid are "vital" as "more than three quarters of people believe that climate change is having an impact on the UK".
