Car loan customers could be driving blind
29/05/2008

Car loan customers should make sure they have an eye test before they purchase a vehicle, if a recent poll of drivers is a good indication of the nation's eyesight.

Specsavers' May roadshow revealed that a quarter of drivers they tested at the event fell short of the minimum legal visual requirements set by the Department of Transport and Police.

Lateef Iqbal, store director of Camberley Specsavers, said: "These results show that a quarter of Surrey’s drivers are dangerous, which is particularly alarming as being visually aware as a driver on the winding country lanes around Surrey is crucial, especially with limited street lighting for driving after dark."

It seems that saving money would be enough of an incentive to get people to have regular eye tests.

When questioned, 100 per cent of drivers polled at the show said they would undergo eye examinations if it reduced the cost of their car insurance.
