Passat makeover could tempt car loans customers
28/04/2008
Volkswagen have picked up on some of the smarter tricks of their rivals in their latest Passat, one review claims.
In an article for the Independent last week, John Simister notes that the "ludicrously indulgent" Mercedes-Benz CLS has recently been on the end of a makeover and some of the changes made can be seen in VW's updated Passat CC 1.8 TSI.
The article states that for around £21,000, car loans customers will be able to scoop up the new car this August and will have access to a 16-valve turbocharged engine, capable of 138mph and CO2 emissions levels of 180g/km.
BMW's 318i SE, Mercedes-Benz's C200 Elegance and the previous VW Passat 1.8 TSI Highline are noted as possible alternatives for car loans customers to consider, although Mr Simister concludes that beneath the new design the car is well worth a look.
"Good car? Undoubtedly. But, as is so often the case, the real gem doesn't lie among the obvious glitter," he states.
In January, Auto Express reported that VW had premiered the new car at the Detroit Motor Show.
