Car loans customers 'still opting for 4X4s'
28/04/2008
Despite growing environmental concerns and increases in congestion charging, car loans customers are unlikely to turn away from the 4x4, it has been suggested.
It is reported by the Sunday Times that drivers in the UK are still very much "in love" with such vehicles and that new and used car dealerships are recording better than ever sales figures for the less economical vehicles.
Nick O'Donnell, a spokesman for Chrysler - manufacturer of the Jeep range - told the newspaper that last month saw a record number of car finance customers looking to buy from their selection of 4x4s.
"March was our best month ever for sales of Jeep in the UK. Economic factors may be depressing car sales in general, but there are other factors, such as safety and security, working in the opposite direction," he said.
It is reported that Mercedes, Honda and Nissan are also seeing high sales of their 4x4 models and the article adds that most manufacturer's now have such a model in their range.
One such company is Ford, which Motor Trader reports expects to achieve annual sales of 7,000 for its new Kuga model.
