Car loan customers with points pay up to 60% more for insurance
30/06/2008
Drivers with points on their license will pay up to 60 per cent more a year for their car insurance, according to a car insurance comparison site.
Research conducted by Confused.com revealed that drivers with penalty points on their licenses will pay at least £370 a year more than those with clean licenses.
These premiums could see more significant increases if you are a younger driver - as much as 92 per cent for a 21 year old women with just six penalty points on her license.
Carlton Hood, chief executive of confused.com, disclosed that up 3.2 million driving convictions had been registered on confused.com last year and warned of lasting high premiums.
He said: "While speeding is a tempting option for some, we would advise our customers to think carefully before making a poor driving decision.
"You are risking a large fine, a tarnished license and potentially higher insurance premiums."
Last year it was reported by uswitch.com that insurance premiums rose collectively by £30 million, as a result in an increase in speeding convictions.
